About
jellyellie
Name:
jellyellie
(duhh)
Age:
Currently
17. Started writing How Teenagers Think at 14, it was published
at age 15.
Location:
Surrey,
UK
Siblings:
jellyellie has a younger brother Alex, 15, who is pictured
with her on the front cover of How Teenagers Think. This
required quite a bit of bribing on jellyellie's part, something Alex
won't let her forget.
Education:
jellyellie went to school until age 14, when she became incredibly
frustrated with the constraints of the school system and left to be
home educated. She joined a local home education group, met lots of
crazy people, followed an autonomous route of education (no teachers,
timetables, lessons or cirriculum) and generally had a great time.
She took one GCSE - Business Studies - and numerous other weird qualifications,
including a CompTIA A+ and RYA Competent Crew. Being home educated
also allowed jellyellie to dedicate a lot of her time to working on
How Teenagers Think, something she wouldn't have been able
to do had she been at school. jellyellie then successfully decided
to try and get into college on her one GCSE, so she is currently studying
Psychology and Law AS Levels, and is also undertaking a Freelance
and Features Writing correspondence course with the London School
of Journalism.
Interests:
jellyellie loves listening to music, has a guitar and bass
that she doesn't play enough (just pretend you didn't hear that when
you read the Music chapter in How Teenagers Think), juggles
and spins poi, and loves anything to do with the outdoors and the
sea: sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and flying powerkites all
float her boat. Cough.
jellyellie
also has a bit of a weird interest in 'people' - she loves the whole
psychology/personality/body-language thing and could easily spend
a day in London just watching everybody walk past. However, this is
a little strange, so jellyellie just sticks to "enjoying meeting
new people" - making contacts is her favourite pastime.
Previous
projects: Aged 13, jellyellie created bluejackQ.com, the
world’s first and most authoritative website about bluejacking
- sending anonymous messages using Bluetooth mobile phones. The witty
bluejacking stories jellyellie wrote caught the global media’s
interest and clocked up over 3 million page views in less than two
years. Worldwide media interest included feature interviews on BBC
TV & radio, the CNN, a full-page article in The Times, article
in the International Herald Tribune and numerous other national and
international publications.
When
she was 14, jellyellie was approached by a blue-chip global telecoms
company to be a freelance columnist for a new website they were launching
on innovation. This was a brilliant opportunity for jellyellie to
make invaluable contacts, and she had great fun attending editorial
meetings at their London HQ.
Goal
in Life: jellyellie's goal in life is to have fun. Through
doing so, she will meet tonnes of awesome people, and "make shitloads
of money". OK, so her proper goal is to write books, be a freelance
writer/journalist, then set up her own business (she doesn't know
what in yet) and become a multi-billionaire magnanimous entrepreneur.
Sorted.
